About Us

Statement of Commitment to Members

As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, US Federal is fully committed to its members. This Statement of Commitment represents our good business practices and ensures the financial strength of our credit union on behalf of our members.

By virtue of our principles of "Not For Profit, Not For Charity, But For Service," our philosophy of "People Helping People," and our national brand campaign, "Where people are worth more than money" we commit that:

  • We will uphold our fundamental responsibility to actively serve the many communities within our field of membership.  We will treat all members with respect and dignity, while offering honest and fair transactions to all members at all times.  We will deliver a wide range of low-cost products and services to the diverse economic and social make-up of our members and potential members.  We will always search for better ways to reach out to the underserved in our field of membership.  And we will continually, in all facets of our operations, demonstrate the value of membership in US Federal Credit Union.

  • We will continuously improve and communicate our services in a meaningful way so members, potential members, legislators, regulators, and the community at large will understand and appreciate the unique role that member-owned financial cooperatives play in their lives.

  • We will put forth our greatest effort to enable our members to become financially self-sufficient and successful.  We will place high importance on consumer education and teaching the value of financial thrift.

We have also adopted the International Credit Union Operating Principles, which in part state:

  • "Continuing the ideals and beliefs of cooperative pioneers, credit unions seek to bring about human and social development.  Their vision of social justice extends both to the individual members and to the larger community in which they work and reside."

The credit union ideal is to extend service to all who need and can use it.  Every person is either a member or a potential member and appropriately part of the credit union sphere of interest and concern. Decisions should be made with full regard for the interest of the broader community within which the credit union and its members reside. It is US Federal Credit Union's practice to support human involvement and invest financial resources in selected charitable, community and civic organizations whose goals and objectives are consistent with the credit union philosophy of improving peoples' financial well-being, promoting the credit union ideal of cooperative self-help, and bringing about human and social development.
