Extended Validation Certificate

Fraudulent websites often try to mimic legitimate sites so they can gather personal information for financial gain or identity fraud. You can guard against this when you visit usfed.org by knowing the security clues to look for and becoming familiar with the legitimate entry points to our websites.

What is Extended Validation?
Extended Validation (EV) certificates are an authentication method that provides you with a high level of assurance that you are visiting a legitimate website. With EV certification, it's more difficult for an imposter site to appear authentic.

Why is my URL green?

When you visit usfed.org with an EV-supported browser:

  • Your address bar color will change to green (shown here) to notify you that US Federal Credit Union controls the site you're visiting.
  • Your address bar color will change to yellow or red if there is a problem with validating a website.
  • You will still see the familiar lock icon indicating that encrypted communications between your browser and our website are occurring.
