Mobile Banking Security

Mobile banking is a great way to manage your financial accounts no matter where you are, and ensure that your transactions will be handled safely and securely. However, convenience, as always, comes with some risk. By simply following a few precautions you can be confident you are doing what is necessary to protect yourself and not compromising sensitive information while utilizing this convenient service.

What you can do:

  • Avoid clicking web page links sent to you in emails, text messages, and other online media that appear to come from your financial institution. Always use the URL or application that we have provided you, do not trust links from outside sources
  • If your mobile device is lost or stolen, immediately contact your service provider. Monitor your account using our Internet Branch to ensure that no fraud occurs, if you suspect fraud then contact US Federal immediately
  • Make sure to use a unique user name and password for Mobile Banking
  • Trust your instincts. If something seems wrong, it probably is. If you notice the site looks different or see significant spelling and grammar problems stop using it by closing your browser and call your financial institution

US Federal uses MShift's Mobile Banking/Internet Banking solution. www.usfed.mobi is secured using industry-standard technologies (SSL, WTLS, and PKI) including the following:

  • Security certificates, with 256 bit encrypted communication
  • Multifactor Authentication
  • Five-minute session time-out
  • Secure log out feature which removes the cookies used in conjunction with the mobile banking session from the mobile device

We have gone to great lengths to ensure that this service is a secure way for members to access their accounts and make transactions. By following these basic security guidelines, you can ensure that your personal financial information is not only always at your fingertips, but always in safe hands.
