Overdraft Programs
There aren’t many good things to say when you bounce a check or have a transaction declined. Fortunately the overdraft programs at US Federal Credit Union will keep you shopping, paying bills and managing your finances hassle free. And with many options to choose from, you’ll add convenience no matter how you shop.
Overdraft Privilege
Our standard Overdraft Privilege program allows you to clear transactions (including written checks, automatic withdrawals, and bill payments) on your account, even when you have insufficient funds. Upon qualifying, this service is automatically set-up on your checking account upon its opening, and only used when necessary.
Debit Card Overdraft Privilege
In addition to our standard Overdraft Privilege program, Debit Card Overdraft Privilege covers most debit card transactions when funds are not sufficient. This convenience makes it easy to avoid the embarrassment of a declined transaction and provides a ‘safety net’ if you must overdraw your account in an emergency situation.
Federal regulation now requires you to opt-in in order to expand the Overdraft Privilege Program to your US Federal Visa Debit Card transactions. Consider Overdraft Privilege as a safety net and opt-in for peace of mind. No one intends on overdrawing their account but accidents do happen. Opt-in to avoid a declined transaction when you need it most – like in a roadside emergency or an empty tank at the gas station. Plus, Debit Card Overdraft Protection doesn't cost anything until you need it. However, if you do not opt-in, any debit card transactions with insufficient funds will be declined.

Overdraft Privilege services are discretionary. We charge an overdraft fee ranging from $19 - $33 per overdraft item paid depending on the number of items paid during the previous 12-month period. An overdraft fee may be imposed for overdrafts created by checks, debit card transactions or by other electronic means. You must repay any overdraft balances and fees within a 30-day period plus maintain a positive account balance for at least one business day during this 30-day period to remain eligible for overdraft privilege services. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts.
