US Federal credit and debit card re-issue complete.
Following the card re-issue, all compromised debit and credit cards were deactivated on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 and will no longer be accepted. Please contact US Federal at 952-736-5000 or 800-345-2733 if you have questions. Call 800-543-5073 to activate your new card.

US Federal to re-issue all debit and credit cards impacted by the Target Breach
After closely monitoring this developing story, US Federal has determined it is in our members’ best interest to re-issue all debit and credit cards impacted by the Target breach. We did not make this decision lightly, and will make every effort to minimize the inconveniences caused by a card re-issue.
 
How do I know my card(s) is/are at risk?
If your US Federal Credit Union debit or credit card was used at a Target retail store between the dates of November 27th and December 15th, your card information is at risk and will be replaced by a card with a new number, expiration date and Personal Identification Number (PIN). If impacted you will receive a notification letter via U.S. mail with details.
 
When will I receive my new card(s)?
We have begun notifying members if any of your card(s) are scheduled for replacement. If multiple cards are at risk, you will receive a separate notification for each. In the coming weeks your replacement card(s) will arrive.
For our members traveling during the month of February, contact us so we can accommodate your debit and credit needs while away from home.
If you do not receive notification from us, your card(s) may not be at risk. As the Target investigation continues, however, it is possible additional at-risk cards will be identified. Should your card be identified at a later date, we will notify you and replace it. In the interim, we strongly encourage you to closely monitor your credit and debit accounts and immediately report questionable activity.
 
What if I’ve already replaced my credit and/or debit card(s)?
If you already requested replacement card(s) as a result of the Target breach, we will not send you a notification and will not re-issue your plastic a second time.
 
What else do I need to know?

Nationally, reports have surfaced of fraudulent e-mails from scam artists posing as Target. These e-mails are addressed to consumers regardless of whether or not they were impacted by the Target breach. Be extremely cautious of unsolicited e-mail or phone requests from Target or any financial institution (including US Federal) that ask for personal information such as card numbers, passwords, etc. US Federal Credit Union will never contact you asking you to verify personal information. Target Breach: What you need to know
Target Retail Stores recently announced that the credit and debit data of more than 70 million shoppers has been compromised. The data breach began on November 27th and was contained by December 15th. Target is reporting that the cause of the breach has been identified and ‘resolved.’ On December 27th Target confirmed that encrypted PIN data was also compromised yet is confident that PIN data is unusable.
To help our members better understand and protect themselves during this time, please note the following:
·       US Federal will replace all impacted debit and credit cards. Please see our 1/14 update for more information.
·       The compromise potentially impacts in-store purchases made from November 27th through December 15th. If you used your US Federal credit or debit card at a Target during that time, you are potentially at-risk. Online purchasing does not appear to be impacted.
·       US Federal Credit Union credit and debit cards have a zero-liability benefit for fraudulent transactions. This means that any fraudulent transactions discovered on your account and reported to us will be reimbursed and/or removed from your card. It is important to re-emphasize that suspicious transactions must be reported in order to receive the zero liability benefit.
·       We encourage you to closely monitor your credit and debit transactions, particularly those made on or after November 27th. If questionable transactions appear on your account, contact US Federal Credit Union immediately. We'll be available Monday-Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm CST by calling (952) 736-5000 or 1 800 345-2733.
·       If you prefer to immediately block your card(s) instead of waiting for the replacement, contact US Federal Credit Union at the numbers provided above. After hours, please call the Lost/Stolen card 24-hour hotline at 1 800 543-5073. This call will automatically block your card(s) from future transactions. At the end of the next business day following your call, we will reissue you a new card. If you change your mind and wish to keep your current card, you must contact us before 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time to remove the block and prevent a card issue.
·       If would like to change your PIN on a US Federal card used at Target during this compromise, you may do so by calling 1-866-297-3411. You will need your credit or debit card number and current PIN to make the change.
·       To date, we have experienced no fraud that we can determine resulted from the Target compromise. Your reporting of potential fraud will help us better understand the impact to our membership, and take necessary action to protect your credit and debit balances.
·       Visa offers credit and debit monitoring services through their free online shopping tool V.Me. Visit www.V.Me to create an account and set custom alerts to notify you via text or e-mail whenever your cards are used.
